WELCOME TO MY KNITTING UNIVERSE!
My name is Carine, and I am the person behind carine.knits.
What started as a very cautious interest in knitting a few years back has since developed into quite a large part of my life.
I work in a yarn shop in Oslo on a daily basis, but it took several years before I was bitten by the knitting bug. I wasn't very good at knitting, nor was I very interested in it. But then I started cautiously with simple garments and simple recipes - and then it was done.
Over time, my understanding of yarn and different techniques began to grow, and I switched almost exclusively to freehand knitting, because then I could decide completely myself how a garment should look!
There is a freedom in being able to knit freehand that I really like. And even though there is a lot of frustration and trials behind it, I finally learned what my ultimate design is like. And there are simple knitted garments with an oversized look - garments that are easy to wear, knit and style.
I eventually got quite a few inquiries about my clothes when I went with my own designs, and that's why I'm here now.
My design expression is not complicated; i like it oversized, simple and comfortable!
Words like "i-cord", Italian cast-off, shortened needles or German short rows do not exist in my knitting vocabulary. My recipes are easy for everyone to understand and are written in a detailed and uncomplicated way. There are no difficult techniques either, which makes the recipes perfect for beginners, or those who just want to keep it simple!
In addition, I am a fan of the fact that not everything has to be perfect! It doesn't matter if you lose a stitch and sew up the hole afterwards. Or if you find out that you cast on two stitches more than what was written in the recipe. When the garments I've created recipes for are large in the first place, a mask or two does nothing for the overall impression. You can also play with different techniques and yarns - choose a different yarn, knit with different colors together, make stripes as you like, knit twisted instead of regular straight stitches on purl borders, make a shorter neckline, longer bodice. .. The list is endless. But if you want your clothes to be the same as mine, I recommend you follow the recipe as it is written - then you can use it as a starting point for your next project and play around a bit more!
